7 of the Most Beautiful James Bond Cars
Last year marked 60 years since the first Bond movie aired. Today, the world’s fascination with the most beautiful James Bond cars remains as strong as ever.
Last year saw popular exhibitions of Bond cars in London, New York and Vancouver. Now the cars are on show at the 2023 Bond in Motion exhibition in Brussels.
Here we look at seven of the most beautiful James Bond cars ever to appear on the silver screen.
1. Aston Martin DB5
For many fans, the Aston Martin DB5 is the quintessential Bond car. It has been featured in six Bond films from 1964 to 2021 and was driven by three different Bond actors. It first appeared in 1964’s Goldfinger and its latest appearance was in 2021’s No Time to Die.

Its timeless, elegant design and super-cool gadgets, such as ejector seats and machine guns, make the Aston Martin DB5 the perfect car for the gentleman spy. In 2019, one of the four original DB5s used in Goldfinger was sold at auction for US$6,385,000.
2. Aston Martin V8 Vantage
The Aston Martin V8 Vantage was first featured in 1987’s The Living Daylights. In the film, Bond drove a Vantage that was equipped with missiles, cutting lasers and a rocket booster. It also featured retractable skis, making it capable of driving down a ski slope.

More recently, the Vantage made a comeback in 2021’s No Time to Die. The film featured four Aston Martins, marketed as the Bond Collection. These were the original DB5, the V8 Vantage, the Valhalla and the DBS.
3. BMW Z8
This now-classic Bond car was featured in 1999’s The World is Not Enough. Despite still being in production during filming, BMW was able to supply two very early pre-production “hero” cars. This is usually cited as the reason for the disappointing lack of screen time this gorgeous roadster had in the movie.

In the film, the Z8 could be controlled remotely and had surface-to-air missiles concealed behind the side vents. The BMW Z8 went on to become a very popular roadster in the early 2000s and is still in high demand as a classic sportscar.
4. Toyota 2000GT
While the Toyota 2000GT in 1967’s You Only Live Twice is mainly driven by Bond girl Akiko “Aki” Wakabayashi, it’s undoubtedly one of the most beautiful cars in a Bond movie. The sleek roadster is often considered the first Japanese supercar.

After the original car was spotted in Tokyo by one of the film’s producers, Toyota made two custom 2000GTs for the movie. Both cars were converted from coupes to roadsters so Sean Connery could fit in.
5. AMC Hornet
This Bond car was made famous by its impressive 360-degree corkscrew jump over a river in 1974’s The Man with the Golden Gun. The stunt is considered one of the best in all the Bond films and it cemented the Hornet as one of the classic Bond cars.

The AMC Hornet might have seemed a strange choice for a Bond car. In fact, the now-defunct American Motors Corporation (AMC) paid a record US$5million to have the car appear in the film.
6. Lotus Esprit S1
The Lotus Esprit S1 is another Bond car made famous by an infamous stunt. The Lotus Esprit S1 was featured in The Spy Who Loved Me in 1977 and surprised movie-goers by turning into a submarine after driving off a pier.

At the time, the Lotus Esprit was more futuristic than the classic British cars usually associated with Bond movies. The Esprit’s design is often credited with kickstarting the trend towards wedge-shaped cars in the 70s.
7. Aston Martin DB10
One of the more modern cars on this list, the gorgeous Aston Martin DB10 is a bespoke grand tourer designed and built for the 2015 movie Spectre. The DB10 features a 4.7-litre V8 that can accelerate up to 306 kph.

The car was at the Bond in Motion exhibition in London and is part of Aston Martin’s celebration of 50 years of partnership with the movie franchise. One of the 10 DB10s built for the movie was auctioned for £2.5 million in 2016.
